"The old Lakota was wise. He knew that man's heart away from nature becomes hard. He knew
that lack of respect for growing, living things soon led to lack for humans, too."
Chief Luther Standing Bear
The morning was spent barefoot, connecting with the earth, feeling the mud of the beach
ooze between toes, listening to the children's laughter and squeals as they waded through the water,
chasing baby catfish, trying to skip rocks, and just absorbing the magic in the air.

DeleteLovely! I enjoy having mud ooze between my toes too. I am reminded of a camp song about hippos. I'll spare you the entire song, but here is the chorus: "They ooze through the goo without any shoes. Wade in the water 'til their lips turn blue. That's what hippos do!". xo
